Position: Barista / Counter Service
Need: Full-Time Preferred / Part-Time Considered

Location: Orleans, MA

Sunbird in Orleans is currently hiring enthusiastic baristas with counter service experience! Our FOH team is tight, dynamic, self-motivated, and collaborates with purpose and passion. While experience is preferred, it is not required.

Job candidates are passionate about exceptional customer service, love all things “coffee”, collaborate well with others, and relentlessly push their own potential to grow and evolve their knowledge and skills at sunbird and beyond.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver unrivaled hospitality to our guests — “the sunbird way”;

  • Always support and collaborate well with your fellow employees;

  • Know our menus inside-out (beverage and food) ;

  • Thoughtfully guide and navigate each customer experience with care and attention;

  • Diligently review and implement our daily ‘pre-shift’ updates;

  • 'Dial-in' our espresso and coffee drinks daily with great instincts and execution;

  • Know how to identify bean characteristics, grind and weight settings for each unique roast we offer;

  • Constantly refine and evolve your barista skills including latte art techniques and taste profiles;

  • Embrace our “shiny new” daily cleaning policy with enthusiasm and vigor during breakdown;

  • Learn and implement proper use of our equipment during service, as well as opening and closing routines;

  • Keep our cafe running smoothly and beautifully by doing whatever it takes — washing dishes, clearing dishes, sweeping, dusting, mopping, cleaning and organizing condiment stations, taking out trash and more.

  • Relentlessly support and engage your team, including all FOH and BOH staff. We are one unit, not silos.

Qualifications

  • Available: you can an commit to at least 1 year of employment with Sunbird (seasonal employees - speak to our manager);

  • Reliable: you are always punctual, and do not let co-workers down or make excuses to dodge accountability;

  • Committed: to your team, our management philosophy, and every single guest experience at sunbird;

  • Professional: you are serious about your work, but you aren’t rigid, arrogant or entitled.

  • Passionate: about coffee, and routinely creating memorable customer experiences;

  • Detail-oriented: self-driven to see more, be more, constantly improving and developing your skillset;

  • Aware: you acknowledge that working at sunbird means representing sunbird on and off the job;

  • Clear: you have no criminal record or pending legal concerns that could adversely effect your employment, our team, our customers, or our business;

  • Capable: you can routinely work up to 8 hours with repeated walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

PAY & Benefits

This is an hourly + tipped position averaging (contact us to learn more).
